The storm has finally arrived with steady rain, gusty winds and mountain snow
Wednesday, November 20
The storm we have been talking about has finally arrived!
We started to see snow and chain requirements in the mountains Tuesday afternoon but as the snow picked p in intensity we are seeing more chain requirements this morning. This includes, I-5 near Mount Shasta and on the mountain passes east and west of I-5.
This is all thanks to an Atmospheric River, A.K.A. Pineapple Express, that will be aimed at NorCal today, Thursday and Friday. This means the periods of heavy rain and snow will continue into Friday.
Snow levels today will mainly be between 2,500 and 3,500 feet and slowly climb as we get closer to the evening and overnight hours.
As we go through the morning hours on Thursday snow will eventually be up to 5,000+ feet and 7,000+ feet by Thursday night into Friday.
Although we will no longer be under the influence of the Atmospheric River this weekend there will still be isolated showers and snow levels will once again drop to as low as 3,500 feet by Sunday.
