Neighborhood Forecast: NORTH COAST

Another warm day in the valley before we cool down and pick up the winds this weekend. Not much snow if any is expected in the mountains

A fairly strong ridge of high pressure for this time of year has built over NorCal bringing valley highs to around 70 degrees. It will be closer to the upper 50’s on the coast, and low to mid 50’s in the mountains.

Cold air is expected to work its way into NorCal from the north as we go into the weekend. This will give us a big drop in our temperatures especially in the mountains north and east of valley with highs mainly in the 30’s Saturday and may linger into Sunday. The valley and coast will be in the mid to upper 50’s.

For now, I’m keeping it dry especially for the coast and the valley but there may be enough moisture for some light snow in the Northern Sierra (Lassen and Plumas Counties) late Friday night into early Saturday morning. At this point I still wouldn’t count on much if anything at all.

As the cold air moves through NorCal we will also see gusty north to northeast winds gusting in the 30 to 40 mph range Saturday and Sunday and the National Weather Service may eventually issue a Wind Advisory for parts of NorCal.

Otherwise, the winds will start to die down next week and it will start to warm back up again.

Longer range forecast models are hinting at a slight chance for rain near the end of next week.
