Forecast Discussion:

After a very small and brief break from the heat wave it will be warming back up once again.

The ridge of high pressure responsible for the heat moved to the south allowing us to see our temperatures drop by several degrees on Tuesday but since we were so high we have a long way to get back down.

Many of us will be back to where we were the last few days the rest of the week with highs between 100 and 107 in the mountains, 104-112 in the valley and the coast closer to the mid 60’s.

The good news is the ridge of high pressure will finally push far enough to our east that the valley will drop to right around 100 degrees starting Sunday and lasting into early next week.

It is looking a little more promising for some monsoon moisture that may work its way into the Sierra and Southern Cascades by Saturday into early next week. For now it looks like most of the thunderstorms will be to our east in Nevada but it’s too close for comfort and is something we’ll need to keep a close eye on. Fingers crossed.
